The Ovulatory Phase: Your Window for Visibility, Influence and Momentum

When your energy, confidence and influence align, it’s time to stop hiding and start showing up.

A note from the founder

I created Leading Her Way as a space for women who want it all: ambition, balance and that feeling of being deeply in tune with themselves.

What started as my own journey to slow down and reconnect has grown into something bigger: a digital platform made to help you live, work and lead in harmony with your body.

Our magazine is the toolkit I wish someone had handed me years ago - gentle reminders, powerful shifts and everything I’ve learned along the way.

Now, it’s yours.

LEARN MORE

There’s a week in your cycle where something quietly shifts.

You wake up and your reflection looks… fine, actually. More than fine. You send a voice note and you sound confident. You walk into a meeting and the words just come. Someone asks for your opinion and you give it without second-guessing yourself for twenty minutes afterward.

You feel magnetic. Like yourself, but turned up.

That’s not a coincidence. That’s not luck. And it’s definitely not something you should leave to chance.

It’s your ovulatory phase – your inner summer! And if you haven’t been intentionally working with it, you’ve been leaving your most powerful week on the table.

So what actually is my Inner Summer?

The ovulatory phase is the third phase of your menstrual cycle, occurring roughly around days 12 to 17 (though this varies from person to person). It’s the shortest phase of your cycle, typically just 3 to 5 days, but it is, hormonally speaking, your peak.

During this window, a surge of luteinizing hormone (LH) triggers the release of a mature egg from your ovary. At the same time, estrogen reaches its highest point of the entire cycle, and testosterone rises too. Together, these hormones create a biological cocktail that affects your brain, your body, your energy and how you show up in the world.

This is not a phase to sleep through.

What’s actually happening in your brain and body

Your communication skills are genuinely sharper:
Rising estrogen doesn’t just make you feel good, it directly influences the areas of your brain responsible for language, articulation and social connection. Research shows verbal fluency increases during the ovulatory phase. That pitch you’ve been preparing? This is when to deliver it.

Your confidence is biologically backed:
The testosterone surge that happens during ovulation isn’t just a men’s hormone thing. For women, it shows up as increased assertiveness, drive and a felt sense of self-assurance. This is why you can walk into a difficult conversation this week and hold your ground without the internal spiral afterward.

You’re more magnetic to other people and science agrees:
Studies in behavioral psychology have found that people are perceived as more charismatic, warm and attractive during the ovulatory phase. Your voice shifts slightly. Your body language opens up. The connection you feel with others isn’t in your head, it’s hormonal.

Your pain tolerance is higher and your energy is real:
Estrogen has analgesic properties, meaning your body is physically more resilient during ovulation. The energy you feel isn’t forced. It’s not caffeine. It’s your biology fully showing up for YOU.

Your intuition is working overtime:
This is also the phase where women tend to feel most connected to their instincts. You may notice you’re sharper in reading a room, picking up on what isn’t being said or making decisions that just feel right. Don’t dismiss this. Trust it.

Girl, your ovulatory phase is your reminder that leadership doesn’t always look like pushing.

Sometimes it looks like knowing exactly when to step forward. And when your energy, confidence and influence align, don’t shrink yourself.

Be seen.

Speak up.

Take the meeting.

Make the pitch.

The opportunity you’ve been waiting for may be waiting for the version of you that’s already here.

We’d love to know: have you been paying attention to your ovulatory phase? Can you spot the patterns, like the days when confidence comes more easily, conversations flow better and you feel more like yourself? Let us know in the comments!

Love,

LHW x

about

A note from the founder,
Miriam

I created Leading Her Way because I was tired of seeing ambitious women expected to perform at the same level every day - while our biology tells a completely different story.

After years in the corporate world, I realised success shouldn’t come at the expense of our wellbeing. Yet there was no place that combined science-backed education with practical tools designed specifically for women.

That’s why I built LHW - a media and app platform helping ambitious women understand their energy, work with their biology and build careers that feel both successful and sustainable.

OUr VISION

We’re here to support a new generation of female leaders.

Women who lead not by burning out or powering through, but by tuning in, standing tall, and honoring the fullness of who they are. In a world still led largely by men, our ultimate mission is to empower more women to rise into leadership positions - on their terms. Whether you’re growing a business, leading a team, or redefining success entirely, Leading Her Way is here to help you rise with strength, balance, and purpose.
